T-Rex Runner

Introduction

T-Rex Runner is an endless runner-style side-scrolling game, faithfully recreated from the famous hidden game found in Google Chrome's offline error page. You control a animated Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex) as it runs through a prehistoric desert landscape. The game is known for its minimalist, monochrome pixel-art style and its simple, progressively challenging gameplay. It's a pure test of reaction time and endurance, requiring you to guide the dinosaur over an endless series of cacti and other obstacles.

Gameplay

The gameplay is straightforward and unforgiving. The dinosaur runs automatically from left to right. Your only goal is to survive for as long as possible by avoiding oncoming obstacles. These obstacles primarily include various sizes of cacti that appear on the ground. As your score increases, the game's speed gradually becomes faster, and new types of obstacles are introduced, such as flying pterodactyls that you must duck under. The game ends when the dinosaur collides with any obstacle. Your final score is determined by the distance you have run, which is displayed on the screen.

Controls

The game uses simple, single-input controls. On a desktop keyboard, press the Spacebar or the Up Arrow key to make the dinosaur jump over ground-based obstacles like cacti. To duck under flying obstacles like pterodactyls, press the Down Arrow key. On a touchscreen device, tapping the screen will make the dinosaur jump. The game also starts or restarts by pressing any of these keys (Spacebar, Up Arrow) or tapping the screen when the game is over.
